I was out walking my dog a few months ago. We were just walking in town, something that we had been doing a couple of times a day for the last several years. I was about a mile from home when a large dog came out from between two houses and started growling at us. My dog went into protective mode, but this other dog was just too big for him to handle. We both got bit multiple times, and I ended up having to contact a Sacramento personal injury attorney because of my injuries.
I am extremely thankful that my dog was not severely injured because of their size differences. I am also very thankful that the other dog was not put down because of this incident. I did not blame the dog at all. He was up to do date on all his shots, which was a good thing. He just should not have been running loose at all, which was his owner’s fault, not the dog’s fault. The owner did not want to take responsibility for what had happened though. I think in part that may have been because he was scared his dog would be put down, but I am not sure.
Anyway, I did require surgery on my face because of the injuries I sustained. The owner of the other dog did not want to incur the costs, so I contacted a personal injury attorney, knowing that was the only way I was going to recoup the money I had spent. The case did not even go to trial though because my attorney and the dog’s owner attorney were able to work out a settlement even before it went that far. I know I would not have gotten this far on my own, so I am very grateful for my attorney who worked hard for me!
