In observing and chronicling the Loon world one finds that the subject of history comes up frequently and a lot of times the loons revisit history and distort it so they can manipulate it to fit their ideological worldview. In rare cases however do we have a situation in which history is revisited in such a manner as to blatantly align oneself with ancient pogroms and modern campaigns of complete annihilation and ethnic cleansing.

Yet, this is exactly the case that we have with the completely self-taught, pseudo-Islamic Scholar Robert Spencer. Spencer is the progenitor of the hate site Jihadwatch which is host to some of the most vile anti-Muslim and Islamophobic hysteria on the internet. Spencer himself claims that he is just objectively working to expose the fact that Islam is “extremist,” “violently expansionist,” and sometimes not even a religion at all but a “political ideology.”

Do Spencer’s claims to be an objective analyst of Islam hold water?

Recently, Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs, a former ally of Spencer’s and not an individual sympathetic to Islam exposed Spencer’s partnership with fascist European politicians as well as brought to light the fact that Spencer, on his personal Facebook account joined a group which seeks to reconquer present day Turkey, effectively expel and slaughter 150 Million Muslims and replace them with Christians.

Boston Police Officer Fired for Racist Email re: Prof. Gates

With all the hatred being promoted by the likes of FOX News, Michael Savage, and the "birthers', this was bound to happen.

A Boston police officer allegedly sent a mass e-mail using a disgraceful racial slur in referring to Harvard University professor Henry Louis Gates Jr., prompting the commissioner to move immediately to fire the cop, the Herald has learned.

Officer Justin Barrett, 36, a two-year veteran assigned to District B-3, was placed on administrative leave pending a termination hearing yesterday afternoon. When a supervisor confronted Barrett about the e-mail - in which he called Gates a “jungle monkey” - he admitted to being the author, according to officials.

Police Commissioner Edward Davis immediately stripped the cop of his gun and badge, according to officials. Barrett, who could not immediately be reached, has no prior disciplinary history. Read on...

Man Convicted of Internet Threats Against Obama

Man convicted of making death threats against Obama

A 47-year-old La Mesa man was convicted in federal court today of making death threats against Barack Obama during the presidential race.

Walter Edward Bagdasarian faces a 10-year prison term when he is sentenced Oct. 26.

U.S. District Court Judge Marilyn Huff rejected Bagdasarian's lawyer's assertion that his client was drunk when he left messages on an Internet site using the n-word and suggesting that Obama would soon be shot in the head with a .50-caliber rifle.

During a raid of Bagdasarian's home, law enforcement officials seized a computer hard drive and a .50-caliber rifle.

The trial, which Bagdasarian asked to be heard by a judge instead of a jury, lasted 90 minutes. Free on bail, Bagdasarian, who works in the airplane parts business, refused to speak to reporters as he left the downtown federal courthouse.

Rabbis Arrested: What if They Were Imams?

In a new case of corruption and political intrigue a group of Mayors from Hoboken, Ridgefield and Secaucus New Jersey, and five Rabbis were among 44 people charged by the US with public corruption and money laundering.

The corruption probe, based in Hudson County, netted many public officials accused of pledging assistance for bribes. A cooperating witness in that probe also infiltrated a “pre- existing money laundering network” that moved “at least tens of millions of dollars through charitable, nonprofit entities controlled by rabbis in New York and New Jersey,” according to a release by acting U.S. Attorney Ralph Marra…The rabbis were charged with laundering money that often was sent to Israel.

The attorney was on the record stating that though they arrested a “number of Rabbis” it did not make this a “religiously motivated case.” These should be comforting words to practitioners of the Jewish Faith and of course reaffirms what is well known in American justice, “You are innocent until proven guilty.” It does, however, highlight the contradictions within our society. Contradictions that are all too apparent to American Muslims.

Let us consider what would have happened if those arrested were not Rabbis, instead, let us say that they were Imams. What would have happened? At the very least, the rabid anti-Muslim blogosphere would be in a fit, Jihad Watch’s Robert Spencer would be linking it to selective pages of 8th century Muslim law books and proclaiming it as all part of Islam’s attempt to take over the world through “Stealth Jihad.” Debbie Schlussel, would be decrying the “inherent criminality” of Islam, while Steven Emerson would proclaim that he has been warning of the “Islamic financial threat” to the West for years. Even in the mainstream media there would be some form of discussion revolving around Islam’s role in influencing the criminal enterprise.

The evident double standards here are hardly noticed in any news outlet. The Rabbis’ faith was not disparaged, nor was any insinuation made that their religion had any bearing on their involvement with the alleged criminal actions — rightly so. But is it too much to ask that when the Islamophobes and other loons come across a similar case in which there are allegations of criminality against Muslims that they should give the same “benefit of the doubt” that they would give to other Faiths such as Judaism and Christianity?

It is a tall order, I know, because the anti-Muslims are motivated by nothing other than a hate for Muslims, and applying a consistent methodology that would distinguish between Faith and Faithful hurts their argument that Islam is the boogey-man monster underneath your bed.

I have asked the British Internet Watch Foundation to block the anti-Islam and nationalist blog Gates of Vienna, run by Edward S. May, alias Ned May, under the pseudonym 'Baron Bodissey'. This is a follow-up to an earlier request to have him excluded from the UK.

The IWF administers a blocking system, which itself relies on providers to implement it. (The Netherlands will introduce a similar system, but at present there is no blacklist procedure). Anyone can report material to the IWF. On their website, they claim that they only block child porn, but their statute says otherwise. They can in fact block any website for being 'harmful'. Gates of Vienna, which among other things publishes incitements to create anti-Muslim death squads, certainly does seem 'harmful'.

We recently wrote about the bruhaha that occurred when it was revealed that anti-Muslim polemicist Robert Spencer was invited by the ALA (American Library Association) to participate on a panel discussing the topic, Perspectives on Islam: Beyond The Stereotypes.

To summarize, close to the date of the event one of the panelists, Dr. Marcia Hermansen, discovered that Spencer would be on the panel. She informed the other panelists, one of the panelists decided to drop out in protest while Hermansen and the other panelist decided to stay on.

In the meantime various scholars, ALA member librarians, concerned citizens contacted the ALA to lodge their protest and demand to know why a notorious Islam hater was on a panel meant to dispel stereotypes about Islam, as did groups like CAIR-Chicago and CIOGC later on. The ALA lagged in their response and the remaining two panelists decided to drop out which lead the ALA to cancel the event.

U.S. Mayors, Rabbis Arrested in Corruption Probe

US rabbis arrested in crime probe

Two mayors, rabbis and politicians are among some 30 people arrested in a major corruption and money-laundering investigation, say US authorities.

Hoboken Mayor Peter Cammarano, Secaucus Mayor Dennis Elwell, and Assemblyman Daniel Van Pelt are among those said to have been arrested in New Jersey.

Federal prosecutors said several rabbis were also detained in the states of New York and New Jersey.

Newark Mayor Cory Booker said it had been "an unbelievable morning so far".

Cars were said to be backed up four deep with suspects outside the FBI's office in Newark, New Jersey's largest city.

A news conference is scheduled for later on Thursday.

Marwa Sherbini was stabbed 18 times in a Dresden courtroom, by a man who had earlier been fined for insulting her. She is now famous as the Hijab Martyr. Many western media have reported that she was killed specifically for wearing a headscarf. However, there seems to be no evidence of that.

The German news reports are consistent in not mentioning the headscarf as a motive. Her assailant insulted her as a 'terrorist' and a 'slut' at a playground. Because of his xenophobic comments during the earlier trial, the Public Prosecutors had appealed against the sentence, asking for a jail term. That's why the case was in court a second time. The story that the 'hijab' was the motive seems to have originated in Egypt, where her funeral became an emotional demonstration. From there it was picked up by western media, and recycled. The incident is clearly related to the anti-Islam tendency in Europe, but reducing it to a headscarf incident won't help clarify the background.

Jim Robinson, founder of right wing website Free Republic, has decided he’s going to toss out the results of the last election, remove Barack Obama from office, repeal the 16th and 17th amendments to the US Constitution (and Roe v. Wade, of course), abolish a host of federal agencies, and give all governmental power to individual states: If we could get millions of Americans to march on Washington, what would we do?


The best part: he’s going to make Hillary Clinton president.

Therefore, We the People of America choose to exercise our right to throw off and alter the abusive government by peacefully recalling and removing from office the President of the United States, the Vice President of the United States and all U.S. Senators and U.S. Representatives effective immediately.

An interim provisional Chief Executive and congressional representatives will be established as follows:

The Secretary of State shall immediately assume the office of interim Chief Executive. The Chief Executive shall appoint and the interim Senate shall confirm an interim Vice President.

But don’t worry. Sure, he’s calling for a revolution, but it’s going to be non-violent. (Nudge nudge, wink wink.)

This concept is an entirely peaceful altering of our despotic government per our unalienable right and duty. No where do I call for violence. The only force I call for is the force of numbers. We need millions of our citizens to sign on to this petition and execute its provisions. Will require millions to march on D.C. to block the government’s ability to do business as usual. This is our right and duty as Americans.

Two Serbian cousins were convicted today of a series of gruesome, barbaric war crimes against Bosnian Muslims: Bosnian Serb pair jailed for burning Muslims alive.

THE HAGUE (Reuters) - Bosnian Serb cousins Milan and Sredoje Lukic were convicted by the Yugoslavia war crimes tribunal on Monday of burning dozens of Bosnian Muslims alive in the country’s 1992-1995 war.
Milan Lukic, 41, who prosecutors said led a Serb paramilitary group known as the “White Eagles” or “Avengers,” was sentenced by the tribunal in The Hague to life in prison for killing at least 119 Bosnians in two incidents in June 1992.

Sredoje Lukic, 48, who prosecutors said was also a member of the unit, was given 30 years imprisonment. The court ruled it had not been proved that he was present at one of the attacks. ...

The court found about 59 Bosnian Muslims were burned alive in a house set ablaze with an accelerant and an explosive, while at least 60 people died after being barricaded inside another home before grenades were thrown into the building.

Judge Robinson said the court found Milan Lukic guilty of both incidents, adding he played a dominant role in the attacks in that he personally closed the door of one of the houses, set them on fire and shot at people who tried to escape. ...

Bakira Hasecic, president of support group ‘Women-Victims of War’, said she hoped both men would be tried by Bosnia’s own war crimes court for rapes and torture for which they were not indicted in The Hague.
“They only concentrated on the gravest crimes but it is only 5 percent of all the crimes they committed,” said Hasecic, herself a rape victim during the war.

A Reason for the Feud: MASh vs. Warner

We’ve written about the fake Muslims Against Sharia, and the racist Bill Warner.  But their strange feud has taken an even stranger twist. I've got to admit, it's not often that I'm surprised, but this did it.

It has come to my attention that on March 30^th, 2009, Bill Warner went to Sarasota County Domestic Relations Court and filed for a Domestic Violence Restraining Order.  The court record shows Warner claimed that he is living with Khalim Massoud of Muslims Against Sharia, and that Massoud has repeatedly committed acts of violence against Warner.

Personally, I believe that same-sex couples should have equal rights, (and civil unions of homosexual couples will cause no harm to the institution of heterosexual marriage), but who knew that the feud was fueled by love gone wrong?

What does Bill do, after being exposed, to try to convince people he’s not an anti-Muslim bigot? He teams up with Peter Oliver, also known as Linda Lucile Oliver, (and many other names, both male and female) who runs one of the most anti-Muslim racist sites anywhere.  Warner also completely destroys any credibility he may have once had as a PI by copying and pasting fairy tales from Oliver’s site verbatim, every single word plagiarized, without any effort at all to verify what he’s posting.  Way to go, Bill!

Clearfield County man pleads guilty to distributing explosives.

Perry Landis admitted that he sold illegal electric blasting caps to undercover police officers.

But he denied that his cabin in rural Clearfield County was a meeting place for militia members, instead saying he used it as a hunting camp.

Mr. Landis yesterday pleaded guilty in federal court to two counts of distributing explosive materials. He will be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Terrence F. McVerry on Sept. 11.

Alleged secessionist charged with gun, drug charges.

Federal authorities in Seattle have filed gun and drug charges against an alleged member of a secessionist movement after agents seized a weapons cache that included four silencers, body armor and a fully automatic rifle.

Filings in the case, currently before the U.S. District Court in Seattle, offer glimpses into the “sovereign citizen” movement and, prosecutors contend, militia groups loosely affiliated with it.

Currently free on bond, Andrew Steven Gray was arrested early last month after a lengthy investigation involving a Snohomish County militia shooting range, according to recently unsealed documents filed in U.S. District Court. Gray, a Snohomish man with a previous felony conviction on drug charges, is alleged to have amassed a 21-gun collection at a Monroe storage unit, as well as operated a 300- to 500-plant marijuana grow at his home.

Parsippany man arrested for weapons cache was converting guns to illegal weapons for profit.

Prosecutors said a Parsippany man who was charged last week with possessing an arsenal of firearms in his home allegedly manufactured and converted guns into illegal automatic weapons at his home and sold them.

Adam Coughlan, 29, who was arrested Thursday in a raid of his Lake Hiawatha home by authorities, also is a flight risk because he may have ties to the “neo-Nazi” underground, Morris County Assistant Prosecutor Bradford Seabury said during a bail hearing. Since the arrest, investigators have been examining Coughlan’s computers, documents and books, and found instruction manuals on how to convert guns into fully automatic weapons that are illegal in New Jersey and “pictures of neo-Nazi type literature,” Seabury said.

Runyon Pleads Guilty

On July 9, 2009, Jeanette Runyon, previously featured here, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina, case No. 3:09-cr-00115-FDW-1, as part of a plea agreement which included one count of Concealment of Facts About Re-Entry (to the USA) by using false statements and forged documents, (specifically a birth certificate she forged for a baby she bought in the Ukraine and falsely claimed was hers), conspiracy and aiding and abetting.

The specifics of her plea agreement have been sealed, which usually means she has agreed to testify against other involved in the crimes.  Sentencing will likely be in two to three months. Her previous charges were dismissed in favor of the plea agreement, but they were dismissed in such a way that they can be filed again if she does not keep to the agreement.

It hasn’t gotten much notice in US media, but last week British police foiled an international plot by far right groups to smuggle weapons into Britain and launch attacks on mosques.

AN ALLEGED Neo Nazi plot to flood Britain with guns and explosives has been foiled by anti terror police set up to combat al-Qaeda.

Detectives recovered pipe bombs and rocket launchers after an investigation which showed the “growing threat” of the far right, a senior officer revealed. Two men have been charged and further suspects identified in Europe, Australia and New Zealand, West Yorkshire chief constable Sir Norman Bettison said.

The case was handled by the North East Regional Counter Terrorism Unit, based in Leeds, where the 7/7 bombers plotted their suicide attacks.

Senior counter terrorism sources told the Mirror the Leeds CTU is currently investigating “just as many” far right plots as al-Qaeda conspiracies.

Last weekend it was revealed that a network of suspected extremists with access to 300 weapons and 80 bombs has been uncovered by counter- terrorism detectives.

Thirty-two people were questioned by police and 22 properties were raided over an alleged plot to bomb mosques.

It was the biggest terrorist arms haul since the IRA mainland bombings in the 1990s.

Sir Norman Bettison, the chief constable of West Yorkshire, said: ‘The big bad wolf is still the Al-Qaeda threat.

‘But my people are knocking over right-wing extremists quite regularly. We are interdicting it so that it doesn’t first emerge into the public eye out of a critical incident like an explosion.’

We have uncovered new evidence that racial extremists are infiltrating the U.S. military and have asked Congress today to launch an immediate investigation to ensure that our armed forces are not inadvertently training future domestic terrorists.

In recent months, our investigators have found dozens of personal profiles of individuals listing "military" as their occupation on a neo-Nazi, Facebook-type website. One person, apparently serving in Afghanistan, lists The Turner Diaries as his favorite book. That's the book by neo-Nazi leader William Pierce that served as the blueprint for the Oklahoma City bombing by Gulf War veteran Timothy McVeigh.

We've been warning the Pentagon about the danger of extremists in the military for more than two decades. In 2008, the FBI issued a report indicating that the problem may have worsened. Unfortunately, the Pentagon has not taken forceful action.

Indeed, the Pentagon appears to consider homosexuals more of a threat to the good order of the military than neo-Nazis who reject our Constitution's most cherished principles. While the military has discharged more than 12,500 service members because of their alleged homosexuality since 1994, it has refused to adopt a true "zero tolerance" policy when it comes to extremists in the military.

The overwhelming majority of our courageous men and women in uniform reject extremism and are dedicated to our nation's highest ideals. We owe it to them — and to the American public — to ensure that the ranks are as free of extremists as possible.

Please stand with us on this crucial issue and contact your congresspersons. We recommend sending a personal letter or calling the offices of your U.S. Senator or Representative.

Falling From Grace

We’ve previously covered the scandals and hypocrisy at Grace Church.  It’s time to update the articles.

*           After the local media picked up the story, more couples came forward that Pastor Harper had married without having the proper licensing, and pursued the church on breach of contract charges. More out of court settlements were made, which will likely end up costing the congregation more out of their pockets for Harper’s arrogance.

*          After the article about Harper’s problems with licensing and impersonation of credentials, plus the church’s lengthy history of not paying their major debtors, the previously granted approval for church expansion was canceled.  A loan request to fund the expansion was also denied, most likely due to the tightened credit in the real estate market.

*          The church is now so deep in debt from paying the settlements for Harper’s arrogance that they are having to sell off some of their properties. Here is a photo of one, at 7313 Pearl Rd.  The phone number has been redacted to keep my cyberstalker from harassing the realtor.  A major church expansion was planned on this 6 ½ acre property.

*          After the expose about the church’s missionaries using slaves for household servants in Gabon, and the Senior Pastor paying them with counterfeit Nike shoes, the Gabonese government revoked the missionaries’ visas and ordered them to leave the country, forthwith.

*          Darrin, (a long time member of Grace and one of my sources) who asked that his last name not be used for fear of retaliation, advises that Grace has lost about ½ of their congregation in the past 12 months.

*          More is happening, but I cannot release details unless and until specific actions happen. I can say that agencies are interested in what’s happening at Grace Church.  If something happens, then you can certainly read about it on Chasing Evil.

Cynthia McKinney Detained in Israel

Former U.S. Rep. Cynthia McKinney is being held in a detention center in Ramle, Israel, after venturing out to sea with about 20 other activists to provide aid to Gazans as part of the “Free Gaza Movement.” The ship Spirit of Humanity was intercepted by the Israeli navy before the group could reach its destination. McKinney will be sent back to the U.S. soon, the American Embassy said.

Former U.S. Rep. Cynthia McKinney—who was aboard a ship the Israeli navy intercepted this week—is in a detention center and will be returned to the United States, the U.S. Embassy said.

McKinney was among those on a ship that the Israeli Defense Forces said violated an Israeli blockade and crossed into Gazan waters on Tuesday.

Reporters are beginning to piece together an explanation for Sarah Palin's abrupt resignation announcement that stands in stark contrast to the reasoning Palin offered in her speech.

Speaking on MSNBC, Andrea Mitchell reported that, according to "people very close to Sarah Palin," she has "told her supporters that she is out of politics, period. She is fed up with politics. She doesn't like her life. She feels that she needs to raise her family. She's sick of the commute from Wasilla to the capital. And she really does not want to run for higher office, that this is not a case where she is stepping down in order to clear the way for a presidential run. In fact, she has told some of her biggest backers in the national Republican Party that they are free to choose other candidates for 2012, which of course opens new avenues for Mitt Romney, for Tim Pawlenty, for other potential candidates who are definitely in the running."

Bill Warner’s Bigotry Comes to Light

Bill Warner is a private investigator in Florida who revels in exposing every little thing he sees as an Islamic threat.  A Muslim sneezed?  Biowarfare!  A Muslim ran a red light? It must be jihad!  Warner has taken credit for some of the FBI’s investigations, and his ego is prominently posted on every one of his sites.  Warner claims to have “been a consultant to the FBI and Secret Service”, however, in checking with each agency’s PIO, the response was “Bill Who?”

I reminded Warner a few months ago that his postings were forgetting to mention the  vast majority of Muslims are peaceful, loving people.  He seemed receptive, but I kept an eye on his site, as it grew more and more anti-Muslim without distinctions about mainstream Muslims helping the US in our war on terror, instead of being the cause and only source of terror.  Some of his articles didn’t even make sense, they were just blanket condemnations of Islam and Muslims. 

Lately, he posted an article that he copied from the Daily Mail, about the growth of Islamic courts in the UK, now that they have been allowed by the UK government.  The article takes the usual theme of “the sky is falling!” that we see so often from the right wing extremists and as discussed in the recent DHS bulletin; spreading hatred of Islam and Muslims. 

When I pointed out to Warner that the article was misleading and played into the politics of paranoia so often seen on the right-wing extremist sites, and that it completely left out the fact that the Jews, Catholics, Episcopalians and Church of England all have their own religious courts, so an Islamic court is nothing new or special, his response was:

“…just mind your own business !”

I then told him that since my site exposes this type of deception, so it is m y business, he responded with (spelling and grammatical mistakes are his):

“Make sure you (not news worthy site) refute an internationally well know "legitimate" news source "The Daily Mail" .  Go to hell you ridiculous pain in the ass !”

Warner also owns ands authors the anti-Muslim hate site at Center for the Study of Political Islam , where he identifies the site as an “anti-Muslim think tank” (although there doesn’t seem to be much thinking going on there)

The site, at politicalislam[dot]com, has been dropped by 16 host companies over its five years of existence when it was identified as blatant hate speech and racism.

As usual with right wing extremists, Warner wants complete freedom to express his views, no matter how disgusting and repulsive they may be, but he is adamantly opposed to anyone having the right to criticize or even question what he writes. We have noted this very same tactic with many right wing extremists, from Islamophobes, to neo-Nazis, to White Supremacists.

Forty-five years ago today, President Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 into law. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 outlaws discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, and sex in public accommodations, employment, and federally funded programs.

It also established a framework within the federal government for combating discrimination by giving the U.S. Attorney General the power to file discrimination suits, expanding the mandate of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, and establishing the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to review employment discrimination complaints. [Ed: far right extremists have had a hissy-fit every day since then.]

Before the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, "Jim Crow" laws, or legalized racial segregation, characterized much of the South. In many states, Jim Crow laws relegated African Americans to the backs of buses and to separate drinking fountains, restrooms, and dining areas.

Though the House of Representatives passed the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act three months ago, the Senate has yet to take action on the bill.

Last week, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder told the Senate Judiciary Committee that the Obama administration strongly supported the bill, stating,  "The President and I seek swift passage of this legislation because hate crimes victimize not only individuals, but entire communities."

Michael Lieberman,  Washington counsel for the Anti-Defamation League and co-chair of LCCR's hate crimes task force testified to the escalating problem of hate crimes in the U.S., citing recent FBI statistics and LCCREF's recent report, "Confronting the New Faces of Hate: Hate Crimes in America."

"Failure to address this unique type of crime could cause an isolated incident to explode into widespread community tension. The damage done by hate crimes, therefore, cannot be measured solely in terms of physical injury or dollars and cents. By making members of minority communities fearful, angry, and suspicious of other groups – and of the power structure that is supposed to protect them – these incidents can damage the fabric of our society and fragment communities," said Lieberman.
