Robert H. Spencer, also known as Robert Bruce Spencer, is a very busy man. He is a prolific writer on the Web, the owner and primary author of Jihad Watch and Dhimmi Watch, along with hundreds of articles in online journals and e-zines. He has written six books (his seventh is due out soon). He has appeared on FOX News, CNN, and many other media outlets. He travels the country giving speeches. All of this - on one subject, a subject on which he is definitely an expert – hatred of all Islam and all Muslims.
Spencer is very frequently condemned, with criticism that even includes comparison to Joseph Goebbels, the propaganda master of the Nazi party, who demonized and condemned the Jewish people in a campaign to stir up enough public hatred to justify the ethnic cleansing that has come to be known as the Holocaust.

Just like Goebbels worked for evil, so does Spencer. An investigation lasting almost 12 months, spanning four continents, conducting extensive interviews with Spencer (by email), reviewing his writings, analyzing his arguments in condemnation of Islam, deconstructing his logical fallacies, historically classic propaganda techniques, twisting and perverting Holy Texts, denial of reality and facts, and massively duplicitous claims, all lead to a damning conclusion. While at first Spencer could be seen as either misinformed or perhaps completely ignorant on the subject of Islam, this self-proclaimed “scholar of Islam” is neither misinformed, ignorant nor a scholar – he is following his own agenda in promoting hate speech and deception.
It is very important to keep in mind that the free world is in a war with terrorism. Since 9/11/01, most of the countries in the world, including most Islamic countries, have joined the US in the fight against people and groups (and their state sponsors) who engage in an ideology of violence, who will do anything to end our freedoms, indeed to end our lives. The world’s leaders have made it clear that this war is against extremism in all its forms and ideologies, whether they be religious, political, nationalist or philosophical; if they are extremists who resort to terrorism, they are our enemies, as are those who support them.

Is Spencer’s motive treason? Or is Spencer’s motive money, lots of money, millions of dollars pouring in from those who believe his lies about needing to raise funds to continue his efforts “against” terrorism. Spencer even merchandises Jihad Watch bumper stickers and shirts, including shirts for children, to take your money and fund his cause.
Spencer and his alter-ego, Hugh Fitzgerald, claim our president and world leaders who are fighting against terrorism are “naïve”, condemn the courageous men and women of our military for being too soft on Muslims, advocate using nuclear weapons on Iran and Mecca, advocate building concentration camps to imprison all American Muslims, demand that no Muslims be allowed to immigrate to the USA, and advocate that the solution to the Iraq problem is to simply kill all Iraqis, friend and foe. In other words, Spencer uses every possible provocation to inflame all the world’s Muslims against America.
Some critics claim that Spencer does not want the war on terror to end, because then he would have to return to the “unemployed nobody” status he held before the 9/11 attacks, and that the wheelbarrels of money would stop rolling in. Others speculate about a darker motive – Treason – but could it be based on a real alliance with Islamist terrorists, or could it be that Spencer supports bin Laden based on reasons buried in Spencer’s interpretation of his own religious beliefs, beliefs other than Islam? Is there some other religion that, if twisted and perverted far enough, or where an adherent, engaged in an active psychosis, could wish harm upon the United States?
